Story
Hi, I'm Lee and I'm running the London marathon 2015 in aid of Crohn's & Colitis UK. (The national association for Crohns and Colitis) . IBD stands for Inflammatory Bowel Disease. The two most common forms of IBD are Crohn's Disease (often just called 'Crohn's') and Ulcerative Colitis (UC). In both UC and Crohn's parts of the digestive system (the gut) which includes the intestines or 'bowels' become sore and inflamed. Crohn's can affect any part of the digestive system from the mouth to the anus. UC affects the colon (large intestine) and rectum.
I decided to run for CCUK because I suffer Crohn's Disease and want to raise as much money and awareness for this great charity. Alot of people are not aware of this disease and the effects it has on its sufferers. Anyone can develop IBD and currently there are about 250,000 people in the UK alone that suffer from either Crohns or Colitis. There isn't a cure at the moment but a lot can be done with medication and surgery to help keep symptoms under control and reduce the chance of a flare-up. This is why its important to raise awareness and as much money, so we can make the lives of people who have this disease as comfortable as possible.
I want to show everyone that even if you suffer from a disease like Crohns or Colitis, you can still achieve something as big as running the london marathon.
Please take time to donate for this amazing Charity, even if its just £1. every donation helps and will be very much appreciated.
