Story
At the ripe old age of 40, I decided to set myself the challenge of completing the annual Coniston 14 race. Described as the most beautiful road race in Britain, I wondered whether my aging limbs would manage the hilly run around Lake Coniston (one running magazine describes the event as including, "hills; terrible, quad-sapping, gravity defying, monstrous hills..."). You can therefore imagine how pleased I was to hear that due to the Winter flooding in the Lakes, one of the bridges en route had been damaged, forcing the organisers to add another 2.7 miles to the race...!
Originally running just for the physical and mental challenge, we recently discovered that a good friend, Matt had been diagnosed with testicular cancer. Inspired by the way he is facing his own much greater challenge, I have now decided to run the race to raise much needed funds for the EVERYMAN male cancer charity. EVERYMAN run Europe's only dedicated male cancer research centre, which costs £2m every year to operate. They rely on voluntary support and donations to continue their life saving work.
I know that times are tough but I would be very grateful for any donation you can make. Every penny donated goes towards helping EVERYMAN and their leading specialists to understand more about male cancers and reach their goal of stamping them out altogether. All you need to do is complete the details on this page and JustGiving does the rest.
Thanks
