Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Two weeks after Henry was born, I ended up with two blood clots in my leg and a suspected blood clot in my lungs (I had all off the symptoms but I couldn't get the test done within the time it should have been. By the time I did get it, nothing was there). They say having a baby is the most painful thing you'll ever do, it's not true. The pain was so bad that I couldn't walk and was prescribed morphine. It was then that I decided that if I was ever pain-free enough to be able to walk or run again (there are no guarantee that all the pain will go away with DVTs) that I would make the most of it.
That's when I did something stupid and put my name in to the ballot for the Great North Run.
And got a Place...
Better get off my backside and do something then...
Until this point, the furthest I'd ever run in my life was 10k and I'd done that once only after I completed the Couch 2 5k programme about 2 years ago. So only double that to get to half marathon distance.
So enough about me. Why Tiny Lives? Henry ended up in the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) for 4 days after he was born. He certainly wasn't the sickest baby in there and one baby had been in there for over 4 months. The staff were fab and they do a very difficult job under horrible circumstances. This is a chance for me to give something back.
For those of you who prefer hairy babies, I also have a Just Giving Page supporting the Dog's Trust, who we have supported by sponsoring a dog for many years now - https://www.justgiving.com/Leanne-Rutherford1
