Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Our purpose for this just giving page is to give our little girl Layla a new lease of life. Layla was born with periventricular leukomalacia which is a form of cerebral palsy. Layla finds it hard to do certain things for herself such as getting dressed, personal care and getting around independently. She complains most days about how she is hurting and leg cramps during the night. On the 25/07/2023 we had a long assessment at Alder hey children’s hospital and a consultation with a neurosurgeon who has kindly offered to do SDR surgery. This surgery will loosen all of Laylas muscles in her legs reducing the spasticity enabling Layla to do much more for herself and fit in more with her peers. She will be able to care for her own personal care which will make her less embarrassed about having others to do this for her as she is getting older. Most Importantly Layla will be pain free and reduce all of her daily medications.

Layla loves it when she can be as independent as much as she can and this surgery will no doubt give her the ability to be independent. We have heard many success stories from other children who have had the surgery so we want to give our girl the chance to do and be better.

Layla will be undergoing SDR surgery on the 1st December 2023. Layla will need intense physiotherapy and occupational therapy post surgery to help her get the best possible outcome.

The recovery is a long 2 years and will need to be carried out by the best possible health professionals. We are raising the funds to get Layla private care who will be able to spend the much needed one to one support with Layla along with our support and family.

Layla is a very determined girl and wants to be able to socialise more with her peers without the difficulties she currently faces daily.

Myself, Gemma, Layla and all our family would like to thank you in advance for any donations made
