We raise funds to help streptococcal virus research

Story

On 26th April, I will be participating in the tough mudder challenge in support of the Chris Salmon Foundation, alongside a team consisting of ex-Calday Grange classmates and Chris's Family. Chris was a friend of mine who sadly passed 5 years ago from pneumonia due to a streptococcal infection. The foundation in his honour aims to help fund research and awareness of streptococcal infection as well as promoting poetry and english literature projects across the Wirral, including the brilliant Chris Salmon Poetry Extravaganza.

For those who haven't heard of the Tough Mudder challenge: it's a 12-mile obstacle course designed by the British Special Forces to push the body to it's absolute limits. Here's a video showing the highlights of the course for those interested http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hz-lBGljS_c . It includes electric wire runs, something called the 'arctic enema', sprints through mud at your waistline, and numerous climbing obstacles which I fear the most.

I appreciate any donations, big or small, towards the cause.

About the charity

The charity has two aims, firstly to raise funds to help pay for some research into the streptococcal virus that cruelly robbed Chris of his young life, in the hope that in future no other family has to go through the heartbreak we have. Secondly to fund educational projects e.g annual poetry comp.
