Story
Hi All,
First things first, thanks so much for visiting this page. Please take a moment to have a read through and if you can, support this cause with a donation, even the smallest contribution will make a difference to a truly wonderful cause.
So, to start, a team of 12 family and old school and work friends have set out to raise funds for Demelza the childrens hospice which covers the South East of England.
Demelza are an extraordinary organisation whose tireless work supports children with the most complex of needs while offering invaluable support to the families of those children. My personal link to this incredible organisation is through my son, Joshua who was cared for by the Eltham branch of Demelza.
Joshua was born profoundly ill and was eventually diagnosed with a condition known as X linked spinal muscular Atrophy or X Linked SMA for short. In essence this meant Joshua was unable to move or feed without support. His needs were extensive and far beyond what we could provide for him. Joshua was subsequently referred to Demelza who supported not only Joshua, but his whole family through the toughest of times until his passing on the 29th March 2011. After Joshua passed away Demelza continued their tireless work supporting all of Joshuas family with particular focus on his big sister, Libby. They are truly an incredible organisation that provide support to children and their families during the toughest of times. They are angels in real form and I owe them a debt I can never fully repay, this wont stop me trying though.
Our challenge will be for 1 team, to row 1 MILLION METERS in just 24 Hours. Its not going to be pretty, especially considering we are all getting on a bit now!
Please consider a donation if you can, It will be going to a wonderful cause and, as an added bonus will commit a bunch of old blokes to 24 hours or misery.
Thanks you for your time,
Lawrence
