Story
During the month of June, myself and Andy Law will be walking Hadrian’s Wall from Wallsend to Bowness on Solway . Regardless of the weather, it is our intention to cover the 84 miles over a 7 day period and we will be provided with professional back up in the form of Jane and Sue.
What better way to raise money for a cause close to our hearts? Sue’s mum Eileen suffered from this cruel disease up until passing away in 2019 and my father Albert, as his memories deteriorate, currently resides in a residential home in Cramlington. Up until the age of 90, both these fantasticpeople had the capacity to live independently.
After each day’s trek It is my intention to provide a blog, which I hope, will be of interest to anyone thinking of undertaking the walk and also
providing an update for anyone who wishes to donate.
Thankyou in advance to anyone who is willing to contribute.
Steve, Andy, Jane and Sue.
It is so hard to see someone lose recognition of their family and
themselves. During her final months, my mum described herself as being lost and that is where Steve’s dad is now! Seeing someone struggle to form words and with little or no recognition of their loved
ones is heart breaking and one which no one should experience.
If you can help us by donating to this cause, we would be eternally grateful. This disease is cruel and unforgiving.
People developing dementia is equivalent to one person every three
minutes. Once you donate, Just Giving, will send your money directly to the Alzheimer's Society. It is the most efficient way to raise money, saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Please help Steve and Andy walk for a world without dementia.
It may be too late for our parents but let's try to give it a good
kick up the backside! 😍😍
#Dementia sucks!
