Story

Thank you for visiting our sponsorship page to help us support Action Medical Research it is the leading UK-wide charity saving and changing children’s lives through medical research.

This December We are taking on an epic challenge which should take me about 7 hours - hence the title. It includes…

The 1000 rep challenge

  • 100 press ups
  • 100 sit ups
  • 100 squats
  • 100 burpees
  • 100 shoulder press
  • 100 star jumps
  • 100 twist sit ups
  • 100 sidestep 123
  • 100 lunges
  • 100 calf raise

Boxing

  • 10 x 3 min rounds (boxing) 1 min rest between rounds ( at least 250 punches per round)

Cycling

  • 100 km bike ride on the road in the Tramuntana Mountains

Lift 20 tonnes

  • 5000 kg bench press = 5 ton
  • 5000 kg shoulder press = 5 ton
  • 5000kg curls = 5 ton
  • 5000 kg squat = 5 ton

( you pick the weight and then work out the rep example 50 kg bench press = 100 rep )

This challenge must be done in one session the only breaks are to change clothes e.g. boxing to cycling shorts etc.

My trainer Paul Hamilton who is doing the challenge with me is a former World Muay Thai Champion and professional boxer, holding belts in numerous different weights, after209 professional bouts. He has been named Britain's fittest man, Britain’s Tough Guy team winner three times, carried the Olympic flame and is in the combat hall of fame. Trained numerous world champions in variety of fight disciplines.

I have chosen to raise money for Action medical Research as I’ve had a long-term association with the charity through my cycling with the Barking Badgers over the last 20 years or so.

For over 65 years Action Medical Research have helped pioneer ways to prevent disease and develop treatments benefiting millions of people. Their research has helped to beat polio in the UK, develop ultrasound, fight meningitis and prevent stillbirths. But they urgently need to develop more new treatments and cures for sick babies and children and can’t do it without support. Join the fight for little lives!
