Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

I have been given an once in a lifetime opportunity to take part in an expedition re-tracing the escape route taken by W.B Sandy Thomas, a New Zealand Army officer during the invasion of Greece by the Nazis in 1941. He walked 120 miles from Thessaloniki to Mount Athos, a virtual sovereign territory within the Greek state and home to numerous Orthodox Byzantine Monasteries over 1000 years old. I will be walking the entire route from 23 October to 8 November with 6 others, mostly ex British Army officers but also including Sandy Thomas's 20 year old grandson. Special permits allowing entry to the Mount Athos area have had to be obtained and plans are well advanced for obtaining media coverage of the trip by Greek radio and television. It would be a shame for this unique (and for me epic) adventure to go unmarked so please give generously to the charity of my choice.

The PKD Charity aims to provide information advice and support to those affected by Polycystic Kidney Disease, a range of inherited incurable renal conditions. It funds research into determining the causes of PKD, discovering treatments and a cure. It also raises awareness of PKD providing information about it to patients, the public, the medical community and the media.
