Story
In words, partly spoken by Fred Lebow, avid runner and founder of the New York City Marathon in 1970 and partly by ourselves –“The London Marathon is a charismatic event. It has everything. It has drama. It has competition. It has camaraderie. It has heroism. Every runner can’t dream of being an Olympic Champion, but he / she can dream of crossing the finishing line in a well deserved time, injury free and wearing a Winners medal with much pride. In addition, most importantly, The London Marathon represents a fund raising goal, collecting much valued kind donations (however big or small) for a chosen charity.”
This year we have chosen to run The London Marathon and support a local charity - North London Hospice - based in Finchley, N12, which gives such valuable palliative care to people with a life-limiting illness, helping to minimize their symptoms and maximize their quality of life so they can choose to live and die with dignity in the surroundings of their choice. They provide valuable emotional, spiritual & practical care . This comfort also extends to the patients’ relatives, friends and carers providing support for them to cope with any difficulties arising from the illness, and helping them to recover and rebuild their lives afterwards.
There is NO charge for the care and services just mentioned above. North London Hospice is a registered charity receiving minimal funding from the NHS and relies on donations and legacies to help raise the £6 million each year needed for the care to continue.
We have chosen to help their invaluable work for the local community by fundraising on their behalf. Any contribution you are able to give us will be greatly appreciated and be such a valuable contribution for such a worthy cause.
Thanking you in advance for reading our fundraising page and for sponsoring us on our personal and charitable challenge.
