I will be running the The Great North Run on 8 September 2019, just 20 weeks after giving birth to my second child. Our son, who is due to arrive on 22 April, has been diagnosed in utero with unilateral multicystic kidney as well as unilateral talipes (aka clubfoot). In simple terms, one of his kidneys has not developed in the womb and will never function. The research done by Kidney Research UK has undoubtably helped with the diagnosis and amazing support we have received from James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough and the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle throughout my pregnancy, and will continue to help his care throughout his early years.
