Story

We lost our first daughter to Cytameglavirus in 2009, the minute I noticed I hadn’t felt her move I knew she’d gone , we was already in Sheffield waiting for specialist blood transfusions through my belly to the baby as she was very poorly and was due it the next day . Unfortunately she died the day before , I carried her another 2 days having to be sedated with the horrific pain and state I was in . On the 19th january 2008 1.08am  the most beautiful baby girl was born with rose bud coloured lips and just so beautiful and perfect. I was rushed to theatre and her daddy sat on the floor for 3 hours cuddling her untill I got back . We spent 3 days been able to cuddle , love , dress her , sleep with her but then the most abnormal thing was leaving her . It took a lot of years and work but we recovered .

In 2019 i was so excited waiting for our babies first delivery of clothes to come , a yellow frilly dress and socks 😍. About two hour later something happened and I knew it wasn’t right we was sent to the delivery suite which I knew what that meant , within 10 mins of been their we was told the baby was coming and within minute I haemorrhaged severely , and was told the baby had to be delivered to save my life , I have a bleeding disorder vonwillderbrands disease so there was teams of doctors everywhere , finally they manage to to stop it but delivered baby Bobby our beautiful baby girl . This time we was at dri at I could hear babies cry , I thought it was her and they had it wrong , I could hear joyous parents , it was absolute torture that we felt rushed to leave her , we left in the same lift with a new set of parents and their precious baby and my husband was having to hold me up .

The staff were phenomenal but the difference in delivery’s because of space and privacy is totally huge ! I was diagnosed with ptsd , anxiety , severe depression and also needed crises support during these years . I am doing a lot better but I know how much this serenity suite will help future parents and families . My husband slept in a chair for days , it’s just all wrong .

The serenity suite has a double bed so you and your partner and baby can spend that precious time , there is kitchen and bathroom facilities. Sound proof wall and just a calming environment which is needed .

Thank you to everyone who has helped get to where we are , the buisnesses who donated was unbelievable! The people who played the mega raffles , people’s donations , raffles made up , raffles played , cash donations it’s unbelievable but also demonstrates just how much everyone know this suite is needed 💖💖👼

With much sadness, every year many families suffer the pain and trauma of losing a little one. Although we cannot change what has happened, we can make this experience that little bit easier for our families. As such, we need your help to make significant improvements to our maternity bereavement services so we can provide the gold standard of care that local people deserve. To make these improvements possible, Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals Charity need to raise £150,000 which will enable us to fund various improvements to our maternity bereavement services across Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Bassetlaw Hospital.
