What are we doing?
We are a group of Accenture volunteers determined to help Syrian orphan refugees in Turkey. Working with Human Care Syria, we will travel to Turkey to deliver educational games and furniture to the charity Orphanages in Ankara.
Please help us buying those items and contribute towards sponsoring those kids that have not only lost their home, but also their family members.
To understand a bit more about Syrian refugees in Turkey:
After seven long years and far too many lives lost, there is
no end in sight to the Syrian Civil War.
In 2016, from an estimated pre-war population of 22 million, the United Nations (UN) identified 13.5 million Syrians requiring humanitarian assistance, of which more than 6 million are internally displaced within Syria, and around 5 million are refugees outside of Syria.
Turkey is the biggest host of refugees in the world, with over 3.5 million Syrians - 1.3 million of them are children. Over 40% of them are missing out on education and are at risk of becoming ‘lost generation’ of Syrian children, deprived of the skills they will one day need to rebuild their country.
In Turkey alone, there are 50,000 Syrian refugees whose parents have been killed in the war. Orphans are amongst the most vulnerable in society as they do not have the same opportunities as other children. They are often forced into child labour in order to survive and miss out on a normal childhood.
