The 20th April 2016, is a date I will remember for the rest of my life. It was the day I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, cancer of the blood. The fifth most common form of cancer.
My chemotherapy treatment started five days after diagnosis, and I am pleased to say that yesterday I completed my sixth and hopefully final session. I wanted to plan a party to celebrate the end of chemo and thought The Pretty Muddy 5K for cancer research at Bath Racecourse, is a perfect event to combine the two. Taking place on the 18th September, this event has given me a focus point throughout my treatment, and I have been determined and motivated to gain control of my health again in time for this day. I am really excited about taking part and completing the race. My body will not be physically fit to run, so I'll be walking this year. Who knows, next year maybe I'll win it!?
I am gathering all my family and friends for this event (or party) to say a massive thank you. I have been overwhelmed with the support, kindness and love that I have received. This journey has taught me so many lessons. Family and friends have been a vital part of my recovery, and I am extremely grateful for everybody in my life. I can't wait to finish chemo and walk over that finish line holding hands with some of those special people in my life.
I'm determined to live with (and one day without) Lymphoma, to learn from it and to love my life again. I have documented my journey, so if you would like to know more please check out www.lifewithlymphoma.com. I hope this site will help to raise awareness about this often-forgotten form of cancer, and that it will help to inspire others who are diagnosed with Lymphoma to educate themselves about what it is they are facing and to find the strength they need to fight it.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. If you would like to join the Team Life for Lymphoma and compete in the Pretty Muddy 5K, it's not too late so please get in touch. If you would like to donate to help find a cure for cancer, please push the purple donate button. There will be a cure one day and I would like to help contribute to the cause. Let's fight cancer together - TOGETHER STRONGER!
