Story
Thank you for taking a moment or two to look over my page!
Myself and Alan Wood are taking part in an Abseil off the Forth Rail Bridge ( all 165ft of it!) on Sun Oct 11th. Not only are we getting an opportunity to take part in a fantastic event but even more importantly are getting to raise money for a very special charity.
Changing Faces was founded by James Partridge in 1992 and is the leading UK charity that supports and represents people who have disfigurements to the face, hand or body from any cause. Changing Faces not only provides an incredible support network to those involved with the charity but also helps people from all walks of life in dealing with varying disfigurements. Their work is as much to do with the individual and building their confidence as it working with society to breakdown barriers and help establish new and positive attitudes towards disfigurements.
This is a charity that personally means a lot to me as it has been an invaluable source of support & encouragement to a member of my immediate family. After years of growing up with 3rd degree burns & repeated skin grafts the main obstacles to overcome were not medical but were simply people, our society, and how they viewed disfigurement. Changing Faces has provided a support network that encourges people not to be a victim but to be a confident individual and help those who do not understand or may be unsure to realise that what we see underneath is far more important.
As with all charities their ongoing work is dependable on doing events such as this to raise funds. We are hoping to raise a minimum of £150 each so should you be in the position to, we would be incredibly greatful for any donation or sponsorship you would care to make. Equally if you know of anyone who may also be interested in the charity please do not hesitate to send this link on to them. If not, many thanks once again for taking the time to read the page!
