Laura: running the 2012 London Marathon for Sightsavers

Hello Everyone again:
It is now Monday 15th April 2012. The boys are on their last day of their Easter Holidays and I'm on my final countdown to the marathon. To say my training has not gone as planned is an understatement, but I know I am prone to shin splints, so it wasn't too much of a surprise, the last minute stinky cold was just an added bonus! I haven't followed my training schedule for over a month now, but I'm hoping the 18miles I managed a while ago is still somehow in my leg's memory and the crowd will get me the rest of the way. I had planned to "run" this in 4:30 - 5:00 hours - but now the plan is to get round and enjoy the scenery and soak up the atmosphere.
Wish me luck - I am really going to need it. I'm slightly scared, nervous, excited and desperately don't want to fail. I hope I can raise as much money for Sightsavers as possible in the process of going through this - which I have to admit - is a much bigger challenge in terms of time needed to train and the effect it has had on energy left to play with my boys - and so I will not be trying this distance again until they are grown up and don't need / want me to play with them....... Thank you my lovely little men for putting up with an overly tired out mummy. Normal service will resume shortly I promise... xx

Hello Everyone
Right now it's the summer holidays - I have three boys at home and a husband who works crazy hours - so going out for long runs isn't happening. I'm trying to do a little circuit training and strengthening work so that this year there will not be any injuries and I won't exhaust myself and get shingles again - basically - this year I WILL be running the London 2012 Marathon. There will be no deferral!
I'm sure everyone is watching their budgets at the moment - but if you do have any money to spare to help this hugely effective charity - then please donate. Your donations not only make a difference to the charity - but also gives me a boost to keep motivated and earn every penny you throw our way.
I'll update the page with how my training is going once school is back in. The smallest (4 year old) Hagen starts this September - and so I'll be hitting the pavement during the day to get away from my "empty nest".
Thank you to all those who have already sponsored me (expecting me to make it to 2011's marathon). I'll not let you down - I will make it round this time.
Thank you to those of you sponsoring me for the 2012 marathon.
Everyone's support is much appreciated.
Laura
