The Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary admits & rehomes around 500 animals every year and in 2024 we rehomed an astonishing 750 animals. Since opening in 1967, we have proudly managed to help over 30,000 animals find their forever home. At any one time, we have up to 30 dogs, 60 cats and kittens and 15-20 rabbits. We also care for four goats, who are our permanent guests. We often look after 70-100 animals a day.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

So what got me running again after several years of giving up not just on running but most forms of exercise. Well....

I visited OAS at the beginning of July to help walk a few of their dogs. I didn't know much about them but soon found out the great work they do to give not just dogs but all animals they are given a better life. They have a no refusal policy, they will not turn an animal away no matter what their history is. To hear some of the dogs past is upsetting. Some have been trained to attack others and know no different and normally these dogs would be put down  with OAS instead they try and retrain them and then the next stage is to rehome to the right family.

A few hours of pain for me is nothing compared to the physical and mental abuse some of these animals have endured.
