Story

I'm running the 2011 London Marathon and hoping to raise as much money as possible for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn - NICU Transport Incubator, Charitable Fund No. 21875.

I chose this charity after seeing the brilliant work they did when my twin niece and nephew were born a massive 14 weeks premature.  Weighing just 1lb 12.5oz and 1lb 14.5oz, it was understandably an extremely worrying time for all involved.  Three years later we can now enjoy watching them run round causing chaos like any other children of their age!

During the twin's three month hospital stay, there was the need for emergency transportation between King's Lynn and Norwich hospitals on a number of occasions.  When I heard that the NICU is currently raising money for a new transport incubator, my mind was made up that there is no cause I would rather put myself through 26.2 miles for!

The running of the marathon itself isn't exactly an everyday occurance for me, as I have done little in the way of running in the past.  Since starting my training on 16th November 2010 I have managed to clock up 283.1 miles to date (14/03/11), and despite the tricky weather conditions, it has been an enjoyable experience as a whole.

I certainly don't enjoy this part though... asking for money!  I'm sure you will agree that the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a more than worthy cause, so I'd more than appreciate your support by donating as much as you can.  Every little really does help though, so thank you for taking the time to read this, and for supporting me and the hospital charity in the 2011 London Marathon.
