Story
I have been given the amazing opportunity to volunteer with disabled girls in Thailand this August. I will be working with the charities CCD and 4life in Pakkred (just North of Bangkok). A member of the Rachawadee girls team I will be able to help with the everyday running of the centre whether it be physiotherapy or organising games!
Thailand is predominantly Buddhist where diasbility has a negative stigma due to the belief that it is a result of Karma and they have done something wrong in a previous life. Due to this many children suffering from a severe disability such as Cerebral palsy to something as overlooked in Britain such as ADHD are abandoned.
CCD aims to either reunite the children with their parents or provide them the possibility of being adopted whilst the UK partner charity 4life raises money and awareness while educating the general public.
I am sure many of you know how much I love volunteering, whether it be from my community development work in Cintsa to my recent role with Bridge the Gap at Burley Willows Care home in Leeds and this is something I can't wait to get stuck into!
