In early March, just as covid kicked off and everyone was bulk buying toilet paper, I discovered that Nora, my 13 year old daughter had stage 3b Hodgkin’s Lymphoma - she’s fine, it’s curable, the end is in sight with her treatment and she’s dealing with it with the strength, wit and sense of humour I would expect from her; she is awesome.
We have learnt many lessons from this experience, not least that there are some incredible services and organisations that until Noras illness, we had little idea existed. Momentum are absolutely vital for children fighting cancer and their families. They offer respite, activities, support and advice throughout every stage of treatment and have allowed Nora to smile at times when I thought it impossible. Like many charities, Covid-19 has hit them hard and it is our aim to reciprocate the support and raise as much money for them as possible.
