We are The Largactyl Shuffle, a volunteer group from CoolTan Arts the mental health & arts charity in Southwark!! We create fascinating walks that include talks about historic Southwark by researching local history, the arts and issues of mental health.
We are doing a sponsored walk on Saturday 11th October 2014,from the Maudsley Hospital to the Southbank to help raise much needed funds for CoolTan.
CoolTan participants and supporters will join together to walk the 4.8 miles between the Maudsley Hospital and the Southbank. We need your help to raise a substantial amount of money so we can continue to support people with mental distress and change lives!
Researched and led by CoolTan Arts volunteers, The Largactyl Shuffle Sponsored Walk is a unique guided walk through London's history, using creativity and humour to celebrate World Mental Health Day and challenge stigma.
By sponsoring our walkers, or by taking part, you would help us raise much needed funds. If you do decide to help us raise money, there is no minimum level – we are so grateful for all contributions!
This year the walk aims to raise at least £10,000 which would benefit CoolTan’s participants in any of the following ways:
• Provide 200 free workshop sessions for vulnerable people without other funding from mental health services.
• Provide accredited training sessions in employment skills for 60 people - enabling people to move into the workplace.
• Expand our Cooking Club programme – giving our participants valuable life skills and access to affordable, nutritious meals.
