We are nearly done now, only 6 long holes left...fantastic total but let's keep it going higher!

Dear Friends of PING

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page

This may go on record as one of the most stupid fund raising challenges in recent times but we are 8 blokes who came up with the idea and there is no going back!

The PING Lakeland Challenge is a unique event.  It all takes place the19th/20th June 2010, the longest daylight weekend of the year. The group of 8 will tee off at Eskdale Golf Club at 6am on the Saturday morning and play 18 holes.  Following the golf we begin our walk to Keswick Golf Club, firstly via the summit of Scafell Pike, the highest point in England at 3,209 feet (978 metres).  Oh, by the way, to make it interesting we will be carrying our golf clubs the whole way!  From there we head onto the Langdale fells finishing off day 1 at the Grasmere Youth Hostel.  Day 2 will be a nice early start at 4am when we begin our accent of Helvellyn, the third highest point in England at 3,117 feet (950 metres).  From there we will walk along the series of peaks before dropping down into Keswick Golf Club. All in all we are looking at a 35+ mile walkathon with over 10,000 feet of climb, all with a full set of golf clubs on our backs.

If things go according to plan we will arrive in time to compete in the Ping Lakeland Team Golf Competition at 2.30pm, the final part of the challenge. We will be joining 18 other teams in the 18 hole, Ping Lakeland Golf Challenge competition, followed by an auction and dinner.

You may ask why? We I have no “sane” answer, other than our love of the Lake District. We are hoping to raise a lot of money for the Lake District Search & Rescue Association.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. It’s the most efficient way to donate - We raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now. We appreciate your support, but more importantly, so will the people rescued by the Lake District Mountain Rescue Teams we are helping.

All members of the Resue Teams will be placed on 'Red Alert' for the weekend of our walk. We hope we will raise more than it would cost to rescue us!

Many Thanks,

John, Dave, Phil, Steve, Pete, Tim, Paul and James
