Leicester University Theatre are taking on the huge challenge of performing the complete works of Shakespeare back-to-back, 24 hours a day from the 13th-17th June. This "Shakespeare Marathon" will have 38.5 plays, 154 sonnets, 2 major poems and 9 minor poems, finished off by reading Shakespeare's will.We have been incredibly ambitious with this and are attempting to use tech, costume, props and even staging throughout the week.
An immense amount of time has already gone into preparation; compiling lists of everything that we'll need and making/sourcing props... not to mention the work that it'll be to put on the marathon itself!
We have chosen to support the Alzheimer's Society because of their amazing work to keep people with dementia connected to their lives and the people who matter most. Dementia is incredibly debilitating; affecting memory, thinking and sometimes language. It's not only difficult for those who are affected by dementia, but also their friends and families. Alzheimer's Society's belief that life doesn't end when dementia begins is an incredibly inspiring message that helps provide support and encouragement.
We'd therefore be incredibly grateful for any donations towards such an amazing charity which aims to maintain the lives of people for as long as possible, or if you could share our efforts and spread the word!! We'll continue to provide updates on our marathon efforts, thank you so much for your support!
