Story

Anyone who knows me will know that this is going to be tough for me! My school P.E. report says 'will not participate in activities' from the age of about 12-16 and up until 3 months ago I was a smoker and had been for the past 10 years.

But a marathon is nothing compared to what some people go through.

My Dad had cancer and received some of his successful treatment at The Christie hospital in Manchester, he was very lucky and I'm very grateful to every person that saved him.

Chris Frankland, the life and soul of the party, my Top Gun and Eddie Murphy Raw and Delirius viewing partner, the go to person when you were having a bad day, the beans-sausage-pasta hangover food chef, the king of the dance floor, one of the house team 'GD' members, the terrible driver, the New York lover, the one who alway had a smile and a joke, the calmest, happiest, most diplomatic (we needed it in a house of 11!!!), fun, peace-keeping best housemate that there ever was and SO SO much more, sadly passed away in April 2011 aged 26.

Chris was diagnosed with CUP (Cancer of Unknown Primary) and after 2 intense chemotherapy treatments he passed away.

His family have done an amazing job raising money and have nearly reached the £20,000 mark so I'd like to give them a hand.

So this one's for you Franko - I guess I'll have to put some Jay-Z on my ipod now to remind me of you and keep me going!!!

Please give what you can and donate to this amazing cause that has treated, supported and saved so many people and donate for the memory of Chris.

Here's a bit about The Christie:

The Christie has been pioneering cancer research breakthroughs for over 100 years and is the largest cancer centre in Europe. Treating more than 40,000 patients each year, they were the first UK centre to be officially accredited as a comprehensive cancer centre. Based in Manchester, with radiotherapy centres in Oldham and Salford, they are a national specialist treating 25% of patients from around the country.
