Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
When I was five, my father was diagnosed with cancer and subsequently passed away on 28th October 1997. I was so young that I didn't really understand what was going on, and there are only a few memories I hold of my father. What I do remember is that the strong support system created by our family, friends and Macmillan nurses helped us in such a difficult time.
When my sister approached me asking me what I was doing on 28th October 2012 I knew she was going to say lets do something together, as we have always stuck by each other on this day that means so much to us. However I didn't realise the plan she had in mind would be so important and have so much impact on those in similar situations to us. I jumped at the oportunity to run alongside my sister in the Run to the Beat London Half Marathon, despite my lack of training and practice. What better way to raise money than doing something I love, for a charity that has helped (and continues to help) my family in such a special way.
This time, I am asking for support from you, my family and friends in order to support the Macmillan charity in the amazing work that they take on every day. The 28th October 2012 will not only signify 15 years since our father passed away, but it will also mean that we can give back to the charity that gave so much to us when we needed it.
