We fund long-term, sustainable research to find a cure for brain tumours

Story

On 29th September 2018 a team of walkers from Learning Resources UK will be taking on the Langdale skyline, walking the iconic Crinkle Crags and the Langdale Pikes. A 'Walk of Hope' for Brain Tumour Research and one of many Walks of Hope happening this weekend.

The peaks they will cover include:

  • Harrison Stickle
  • Loft Crag (option to extend)
  • Pike O Stickle
  • Rossett Pike
  • Bowfell
  • Esk Pike (option to extend)
  • Crinkle Crags top
  • Great Knot
  • PikeO Blisco (option to extend)

The route is around 18km with 1,200m of ascent.

The much loved Langdale valley gives easy access to a number of classic mountains, with their rocky and rugged peaks, being deservedly popular with walkers and rock climbers alike.

It is home to the Langdale Pikes, a group of summits which provide a well-known and easily identifiable skyline, even from far way.

This challenge aims to complete a circuit around the greater part of the valley, ascending all of these classic peaks.

Our aim for 2018 is to raise enough money for one complete day of research, a total of £2,740, and add a tile to one of the charity's Walls of Hope.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.
