Story
My chosen charity is Young Minds – the UK’s leading charity fighting for children and young people's mental health, this is very close to my heart and I believe if we can equip young people with the tools to support their mental health, this will help to ensure their future well-being. This is particularly important during the unprecedented challenge of a world-wide pandemic, such as we are experiencing now.
Young people are vital for our future and I aspire during my year as president to enthuse them to become future building control
professionals!
Young Minds estimate that in the UK today, five children in every classroom has a mental health problem. A quarter of 17-year-old girls have self-harmed in the last year while suicide remains the single biggest killer of boys and young men.
Their aim is to make things better by providing young people with tools to look after their mental health and empowering adults to be the best support they can to the young people in their lives.
