Story

WHO AM I?

I am L-A and I lost my father at the age of 3 with cancer. I am hoping to help other children and families with the same situation.

WHO ARE WE?

12 children including me will be going to the Sinai in July for 3 weeks. The expedition is being led by Mark Gillet, Sam O’Connell will be joining us and Clare and Jo will be coming also. Kevin will be leading expedition practice weekends to help us cope in the Sinai!

WHAT ARE WE DOING?

We are part of a three-week expedition to the Sinai desert that will include a weeklong environmental project and two weeks on an endurance type hike through the desert.  Three weeks in total.  We shall be hiking in 45 degrees of heat as well as surviving one of the harshest environments in the world. As part of our daily structure we will get up early to avoid some of the worst heat. Hopefully, we will be walking about 7km a day. We will be carrying all our belongings but will have camels to carry food and other necessities for everyone. It is our expedition and we are responsible for raising the funds.

WHAT FOR?

We are going on this expedition to raise money for Children’s Bereavement Services. This will provide two fulltime counsellors (one at each hospice) for three years. And to have a secure Yoyo Club for bereaved children at both Woking and Sam Beare Hospices

HOW MUCH?

All of us are hoping to raise £100,000 but individually £1800 to be able to go on this trip. The £100000 should help us give enough funds to the hospice to provide bereaved children with something to look forward to and lots of care!!!
