We recycle wheelchairs and mobility aids to distribute to disabled people in need

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As a family we know only too well how a disability can impact a child's and their family's life. Ary our son/ brother was born prematurely and as a consequence of this has a physical disability.

His prognosis wasn't great as an infant and we were told he would have "life limiting disabilities" and "not a great quality of life". Fortunately, by the grace of God, sheer determination, intensive physical therapy and access to the right equipment Ary has surpassed all expectations and has a very active, rich and fulfilling life and with the help of his mobility aids he is able to access all the activities and opportunities his siblings and friends are enjoying.

Our father/grandfather sadly passed away a few months ago. He was a very kind and generous man, passionate in ensuring Ary always had the mobility equipment he needed to enable him to lead a dignified/fulfilling and independent life. Our family believes strongly in enabling other people with disabilities to experience the same freedom, mobility and independence - irrespective of their economic circumstances. We endeavour to continue with my father's legacy.

We have decided to fundraise for Wheels to Heal charity for them to provide mobility aids for disabled children and adults from less advantaged countries.

Wheels to Heal is a unique UK registered charity that recycles unwanted mobility and disability aids and gifts them to disabled people in need. The charity is run entirely by volunteers with a 100% donation policy. 125% if you include Gift Aid. They have recycled over 15,000 aids to date to countries such as Bangladesh, Iraq, Lebanon, Malawi, Pakistan, Palestine, Somalia, Syria and Yemen.

Without the charity's work, many of the recipients would not be able to afford these essential items which help them access education, employment, their local community and places of worship. They also provide much needed dignity. (The items are Zakat and Sadaqah applicable)

We would love to raise enough money to fill a 40ft container, comprising over 500 items. With your help, generous donations and various different fundraising activities we hope to raise £10,000 God willing. This should supply around:

100 x Manual wheelchair

300 x Zimmer frames

35 x Wheel rollators

10 x Commodes

10 x Table trolleys

8 x Shower support

10 x Crutches
