Story
On the 23rd December 2004 aged 43 our Mum was diagnosed with stage 4 Breast Cancer, thereafter she had three operations - two lumpectomies and a mastectomy. Within weeks of the original diagnosis the cancer had spread and she was diagnosed terminally ill. At this point she was given the possibility of having up to 5 years to live. The focus then changed from recovering completely to containing the cancer. Over the years we watched our Mum have a gruelling fight; on a concoction of tablets, chemotherapy and spending varying degrees of time in hospitals and doctor surgeries. Despite all this, one thing remained consistent throughout, she was and always will be “The Heartbeat of the House”. On 15th October 2009 she was admitted into hospital for the final time before returning home two weeks later. With Caitlin by her side and her family close by our Mum died aged 48 on 15th November 2009.
As this year marks our Mums 10 year anniversary, we would like to raise funds for Cancer Research by running a 5k, 10k and half marathon throughout 2019.
Thank you in advance for your donation, it’s greatly appreciated.
