Story
Well, I am back in one piece and still processing the experience. The reality of the situation and just how lucky we are to be alive has well and truly dawned upon us.
I am mindful that the sponsorship provided was 'target specific' and that I did not actually reach the base camp. We were only one day away (at a height of 5000m above sea level) and I am thankful that we were not there on the 25th of April. Had we been there then I would probably not be writing this! If anyone would like a refund and does not feel that I have kept up my end then please contact me.
I would like to make a financial contribution to the guide who looked after us and who lost his house during the first earthquake. I have discussed this with Lesley-Ann at the Chestnut Appeal and she is happy to go with that. I would suggest £250.00 with the balance to Chestnut. If there is any strength of feeling against this then please let me know. The problem is knowing with certainty that the money given actually benefits the people affected. My suggestion makes sure that it does.
Thank you so much for your support and all of your messages whilst we were away. It has been emotional!

‘Why? Cliché time, Coz it’s there! A bucket list thing.’ – The words of Tony Hunt, Partner in our Family Law Department and outdoor adventurer who is partaking in a momentous challenge this year – Trekking to the Mount Everest Base Camp (Nepal Side).
On April 16th 2015, Tony will begin the challenge to reach base camp, sitting comfortably at 5,364m above sea level. Dubbed “the steps to heaven”, it will take around 14 days to complete and with temperatures able to hit -15 degrees Celsius, accompanied with strong winds and snowy terrain, it really is a massive feat.
Tony will be taking on this fantastic expedition in the name of The Chestnut Appeal, a Plymouth based charity who have gone from strength to strength to be at the forefront of prostate cancer care right across the region.
To push him to the end, please donate any amount, great or small. It would be much appreciated. Please note that all of your fantastic donations go straight to The Chestnut Appeal and will not fund the expedition.
