Event: Bupa Great South Run 2011, on 30 October 2011
We provide expert care and support to people affected by life-limiting illness

Story

On 25th July 2009, my family received the devastating news that my Dad had terminal Cancer.

He'd been an incredibly fit man all his life, never really suffering any major illnesses apart from the usual aches and pains.  As a result, the news came as a massive shock to us all.

After his diagnosis with Mesothelioma (a very rare form of cancer related to asbestos exposure) Dad became very poorly, very quickly, and on 6th November 2009 he passed away after 7 weeks in the Countess Mountbatten Hospice.

The staff at the hospice made those incredibly difficult 7 weeks just about manageable for me, my husband and most importantly my Mum which is why I am attempting to run the 10 miles of the Great South Run this year to raise money for them.

I will be running in memory of my wonderful Dad who I miss and think about every single day.  I will also be running to celebrate the birth of our gorgeous little boy, Noah, born on 2nd November 2010. I can't describe how upset I am that he'll never get to meet his lovely Grandad, but I'll make sure sure he knows about the wonderful, fiery, funny, generous and lovable man that my Dad was.

Thank you so much for reading this and hopefully donating a few pounds to this fantastic cause who help so many people at a very difficult time in life.
