As all of you know our brother Jordan Curran died from suicide on the 28th of March 2016. Never did we think for a second that he would have been capable of such a thing. For many that knew Jordan he was a loving, caring and beautiful boy inside and out. He was out going, played football and loved the banter. Not only was he our brother he was a son, uncle, grandson, godson, nephew, cousin, boyfriend and a great friend to a lot of people. That night was the worst night in our life we that we had to go through as a family and it left the whole community stunned and shocked at that time.
Jordan was only 19 years of age and he had his whole life in front of him 😓 he would of talked to any of us as we are such an open family and there was never anything hidden so this shocked us so very much. He never wanted for anything and we all miss him more than words can describe.
So our family the Currans & Mitchell's has decided to have a fundraiser in memory of Jordan for the new Pieta House opening in Letterkenny on the end of April/early May. So Far it's the first one to open in the Northwest of Ireland, as the only other places is Galway and Dublin.
Pieta house offers a specialist counselling programme for people who have attempted to take their own lives, for people with suicidal ideation and also for people who have engaged in self harm. They address the growing problems of hopelessness and despair in the community, which for some may lead to an attempt in suicide. This service is free of charge to clients. We rely heavily on fundraising for the centre, these much needed funds will be contributed to the vital work of pieta house.
If the money raised helps another person from suicidal thoughts and self-harming We will feel like we have done something in remembrance of Jordan. It takes anything from €800-€1,000 for to help just one person. We want to raise as much money as possible to at least help one family and make sure that we end the suffering for someone.
It is very important to know that there is always someone to listen to your problems no matter how big or small. It is "OK NOT TO Be OK" we are all HUMAN and everyone is battling a daily struggle in life. Do not be afraid to talk to anyone even if it is a total stranger. Always remember that YOUR IMPORTANT, YOUR LIFE IS IMPORTANT and YOUR LIFE IS WORTH LIVING. PLEASE TALK!! Let's end this epidemic, that is slowly wiping out people around the world. Don't be afraid!
On the night there will be loads of great prizes and an auction of various signed Jerseys. Music and light refreshments will be served.
If all our extended family An friends would like to join us on the nite in remembrance of our boy xx
