Kirstie's story: I came across Parenting Mental Health back in 2019 when I felt lost and alone and desperate to talk to someone who had first-hand experience of what my family and I were going through. Our beautiful daughter Tali had become consumed with mental health difficulties and was admitted to hospital in May 2019, aged 14, and apart from a brief 6-week stint at home, she's been there ever since.
I found an incredibly supportive community who knew what I was going through and just realising that I wasn't alone was a huge comfort to me. I've made some friends for life in PMH and do not know where I would be without the community.
I've run 4 half marathons in the past but overdid it by running 3 in 2018 and getting injured and fell out of regular running. So this time I'm going from couch to half marathon in 16 weeks! There'll probably be a lot of walking breaks interspersed with running (or perhaps all walking if I get injured!) but I couldn't resist the opportunity to raise money for Parenting Mental Health.
Andy's story: Same as above apart from the last paragraph! I've been doing all of Kirstie's training runs with her so I decided to do the event too!
