We fund research into oesophageal cancer to to raise awareness and save lives

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In 2005, my mom, Carol, was diagnosed with late-stage Barrett's, pre-cancerous oesophagus. Oesophageal cancer is one of the most lethal, least curable cancers and it was decided that the best way to prevent further progression was an oesophagectomy - surgery which removed 75% of her oesophagus. She hit her 5-year-cancer free milestone last year and I am celebrating this by partaking in the Windsor Sprint Triathlon (750m swim, 30km cycle, 5km run) on 12-June 2011 in support of Ochre - The Oesophageal Cancer Charity.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

About the charity

OCHRE works to raise awareness of oesophageal cancer, a hard to treat, less survivable cancer. We fund research to support better outcomes. We work with health services and policy makers to improve understanding of the dangers of heartburn and the need for earlier diagnosis which can save lives.
