Story
My mum’s been a patient at the Royal London Hospital Kidney unit since the early 80’s. Having been on CAPD, then having a transplant in 1995 and losing the transplanted kidney in 2012, I’ve seen first hand the amazing support from all the staff on the kidney wards and dialysis unit. Earlier this year when mum had another stay of 2 months in hospital, I decided that I needed to do something in order to give something back in support too.
As a result I’ve chosen to raise money for the Royal London Hospital Kidney Patients Association. They are essentially a self help group, have no paid officials and membership is free. One of their main objectives is to relieve and assist persons suffering from kidney disease who are patients of the Royal London Hospital and St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and associated renal units.
