WHY ARE WE DOING IT?
At the end of November 2022 our Mother Alice passed away after suffering a severe stroke. She received the best possible care from our amazing NHS at Darlington Memorial Hospital, Durham Hospital Stroke Unit, the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle and the amazing staff of Darlington's St Teresa's Hospice. Just six months before this her brother, our Uncle Martin also passed, his family had hoped he could go to St Teresa’s Hospice, but unfortunately he had been too unwell to make the journey there. As I am sure you can imagine, our family and extended family have had an extremely difficult time during 2022. We hope this challenge can bring some positivity back into our lives in 2023 whilst making a meaningful difference to those suffering hardship, be it through illness or misfortune. What better way than raising some money for some of the charities and foundations that help look after our loved ones.
The Kings Church Food Bank, Darlington - The food bank held a big place in our Mothers heart. She had volunteered here for several years and they provide invaluable help to the people of Darlington. During this winter they helped over 200 people each day with basics such as food and toiletries.
