Story
Congratulations Donnie!
Our crew member Donnie MacLean, has successfully completed his non stop swim from Kinghorn, around Inchkeith and back! The 7 mile route was achieved in 3 hrs 39 minutes, which is just brilliant! As you can see from the photo, Donnie was accompanied by a curious seal for a large part of the swim. Thank you to everyone for their support.
In the UK and Ireland alone, 140 people die by accident in the water each year. Half of those who drown never intend on entering the water. These are wasted lives; preventable deaths. And this needs to change.
In 2020, brave RNLI volunteer crew across Scotland launched to the rescue 1,071 times; that's an average of 3 launches each and every day of the year. Why? Because our lifeboat crews are determined to save every one. Even one life lost to drowning is one too many.
As a charity, we receive no government funding and need to raise an average £155,000 per year to run just one lifeboat station in Scotland each year. With 46 lifeboat stations in Scotland, we rely on your support to power our lifesaving service.
Your donation to this page will help support the running of lifeboat stations in Scotland and, ultimately, help to save lives.
