London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·

For over 200 years the Reed’s Foundation has helped change the lives of over 12,000 vulnerable and disadvantaged children, not just by offering an excellent education to open up a bright new future, but - as importantly - by improving their pastoral, social and emotional well-being.

Story

A moment of spontaneity struck me mid 2019 when I decided to sign up for the 2020 London Marathon and put myself through 26.2 miles of endurance and pain. Following multiple moments of thought, I chose to run the London Marathon in aid of a charity quite personal to me - The Reeds Foundation.

Since I made the decision to run the London Marathon and as I commence ‘crunch’ time of my training for the third time (thanks COVID), I continue to ask myself; Will I be able to tough it out? (I hope so). Am I training hard enough? (Maybe…). Why has this been delayed not once, but twice? (as if one training plan wasn’t enough already!).

I have never been an addict to the arts of cardio - especially running. So this will without a doubt be the greatest physical and mental test I have faced so far - it’ll be interesting to see how it all turns out on the day!

On a more important note, training and putting in the hard yards has always been worthwhile, as it’s all been for the Reeds Foundation. The objective of the Reeds Foundation is simple - it is committed to providing educational and pastoral support for vulnerable children who have lost the support of one or both parents. These children have unfortunately suffered from a range of social issues such as neglect, abandonment, abuse or bereavement to name a few. What these children all have in common is the ability, but unfortunately not the means, to overcome these childhood traumas.

Having attended and been a beneficiary of Reeds School’s fantastic education, It is only fitting that I do what I can to show my appreciation by supporting the Reeds Foundation to offer other children the same opportunity that I was so fortunate to have. I would like to do this by asking you to help me raise funds for the Reeds Foundation so it can continue to provide for children who do not have the same supportive home environment that so many of us have had whilst growing up.

If I can somehow manage to carry myself for 26.2miles, I’m hoping that together we can achieve my fundraising target of £1000. No matter how big or small your contribution is, it will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!
