Story
Kim recently lost her battle with cancer and passed away peacefully on the 7th February, 2014 at the Marie Curie Hospice in Solihull.
Having only been diagnosed on the19th December with advanced stages of metastatic lung cancer, which in the end had spread to her brain and bones, the last few weeks were an emotional rollercoaster for everyone. Kim's final 2 weeks were spent at the hospice in Solihull which made such a difference to the quality of the end of her life, ensuring she was comfortable, pain free and looked after with the love, care and attention she truly deserved. We were also able to sleep at the hospice and come and go as freely as we wished to make sure Kim was never on her own in her final days.
All of the staff including the doctors and nurses were remarkable and clearly very experienced in dealing with these difficult circumstances. They reassured Kim and us at all times and offered emotional support, advice and guidance when needed. Kim had her own room with an ensuite bathroom and direct access to a landscaped garden which she loved.
Initially we were sceptical even the word 'hospice' scared us however, it was the most unbelievable place and we could not regard it higher. The hospice made the world of difference to Kim and us and we will always be truly grateful hence the reason for fundraising ideas and setting this just giving page up and wanting to give something back to such an amazing place.
It will give us all comfort to know in the future that some other family and loved one who is so poorly could have what we had - it is really important to us and we know Kim would be fully supportive. She was so kind and self-less and always so giving and we want to make her proud.
Thank you in advance for any donations it really is appreciated and is in memory of an amazing person who we will never forget.
