On the 3 November Stuart & Marie Curran, Kim & Vincent Maher will be embarking on a 6 day trek to reach the Uhuru Peak of Kilimanjaro reaching an altitude of 5,896 metres on behalf of The Good Life Orphanage.
Day 1 – The group will hike for 5 hours to reach 2,700 metres.
Day 2 – The group will make a steep ascent for 6 hours, through a forest to reach 3,720 metres.
Day 3 – A day will be spent to acclimatise in order to avoid altitude sickness.
Day 4 – The group will climb towards the Lunar Desert where the terrain becomes high altitude wilderness to reach 4,700 metres.
Day 5 – The group will start the ascent at 1.00am to reach 5,685 metres at sunrise, those willing can reach Uhuru Peak at 5,896 metres. The hike will take around 15hours.
Day 6 – The group will start their descent back down to where they began on Day 1.
The Good Life Orphanage, founded in 2008 by Mary & Kevin Maguire, has 3 houses which provides a safe and secure home for orphaned and abandoned children within Kenya.
100% of all donations go directly to the Orphanage.
