Story

As we all know, prevention is one of the main ways to prevent extreme situations brought on by Coronavirus, no matter where in the world you are. However, in some places access to information and resources, such as face masks or soap, is extremely limited or even non-existent. Moreover, the health systems in many of these places are often less efficient, unable to cope with such outbreaks; this means that situations as extreme as the current pandemic might become even more dangerous and, therefore, preventing them is absolutely essential.

To make this prevention reach the most remote places of Uganda, we need to have people willing to be there. Our local volunteers are these people! What we need now, however, is an efficient way of communicating the importance of prevention… and that’s where you take part!

With a small donation of only 7 Euros, you can make sure that one family receives all the information about Coronavirus together with a sanitation kit, composed of all necessary materials to build a Tippy tap (a handwashing station made of sticks, a water container, rope and soap).

It has been proven that frequent hand washing with soap is an effective means of prevention, but in some places something as seemingly simple as that can be a lot more complicated; we need to remember that not everyone has access to clean running water and, therefore, building tippy taps is an excellent way to help. Through this initiative and with your help we will be able to help many families to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in Uganda.

It may not be a lot of money but it can make a difference. Just a little bit of effort can lead to great results!

About the charity

Communities for Development (CfD) was born with a clear objective, to help improve the lives of some of the poorest people in rural Uganda. Our approach includes the delivery of business and skills training and the creation of microfinance savings groups to help communities self-develop. We then assist these community members to start up their own income generating activities, to allow families to meet their basic everyday needs and further improve their long term quality of life. Communities for Development firmly believes that the community must be at the heart of their own development and this philosophy is ingrained into everything we do.
