Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 6th November 2014 I was told that at just 49 years old I may only live for two years having been diagnosed with prostate cancer which had already spread around my body and was therefore incurable.  Here I am over seven years on and somehow still here. I have dedicated the life that I still have left to enjoy myself, make the best memories for my family and friends and raise awareness and funds for Prostate Cancer UK by undertaking 1,000s of miles annually of multiple ultra running challenges. I am no super athlete just an ordinary guy on a mission that keeps on growing!

This page will be forever page for Prostate Cancer UK but here is a flavour of what I have achieved since diagnosis in November 2014:-

2015 Brighton and London marathons on weeks 13 and15 of chemo.

Marathon Des Sables ultramarathon (claimed to be the toughest foot race on the planet completed 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 (the only person with any T4 cancer to do that race 4 times).

250k (apprx) ultra marathons in hot and mountainous Spain and Albania, jungles in Cambodia and  Sao Tome desert in Jordan, cold  Iceland, and twice non stop 120 mile races in the Canadian Arctic.

Trekked the 900k Camino de Santiago in Spain

Trekked 968k from London to Tipperary (because its a long way) after being told no running for 3 months after a double hernia operation.

10 marathons in 10 days race

Completed over 200 marathon distance events on foot

Run over 15,000 miles

Received the British Empire Award

Made a Freeman of the City of London

Just Giving Endurance Fundraiser of the Year award

In 2024 I will be running 100k in Arran in April, 200k with over 30,000ft of ascent in Spain in May  , more tba for the second half of the year but watch this space for a return to the Arctic!

I also am pushing myself to run every single day no matter what and total over 3,500 kilometers for 2024.
As at 4 April I have run 1045k in 2024 and am on target !

I have written a book Dead Man Running available on Amazon if you want to know more about my story.
