Story
Kevin suffered a stroke about four years ago and, having worked hard at his rehab in hospital, was discharged to his home five months later.
One of the greatest challenges that he faced was that the stroke caused him to lose much of his ability to speak, a condition known as aphasia. Dyscover provided him with a place to continue working on improving his speech, whilst also meeting others in a similar situation. His speech continued to improve whilst attending his Wednesday morning group, but most importantly he cherished the friendships that he made in the group.
In life, Kevin always enjoyed a chat and seeing how difficult it was for him to communicate makes it easy to understand the value and importance of the work done by Dyscover. Dyscover is a small charity operating vital services for people with aphasia in Surrey and South London. The charity was a tremendous support to Kevin in the later years of his life and we hope that you will join us in donating to this worthwhile cause in his memory.
