Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and a massive thank you to everyone who has already sponsored, shared and donated. There’s still plenty of time for more donations for this fantastic charity that puts to good use every single penny it receives.
To help celebrate my daughter Olivia’s 16th birthday and my 40th I wanted to do something big and push myself to my limits, mentally and physically. There for I ran Tough Mudder Infinity in July, now Because of this THE CHSF made it possible for me to run THE GREAT NORTH RUN on 10th September so I need to focus on run and pick up the miles as it’s double the distance I’ve ran before
This event is not just any gruelling 15KM, 30 OBSTACLES Tough Mudder course its as many 15KM, 30 OBSTACLES LAPS of the tough Mudder course in 8 long hours made only hard by the hilly terrain of the Yorkshire Dales. 46km managed with every obstacles, like monkey bars, walls, mud, ice swimming and electrocution completed on the way.
Now it’s time to focus on Running the Great North Run. The GNR is a 13.1mile run starting at Newcastle and finishing at South shields
Why push my body to its limits for this charity I hear you ask, WELL…………………. I’ve chosen the CHSF children’s heart surgery fund as I know first hand how important they are to so many families of ‘Heart Warriors. 16 years ago (20th March 2007) my twin daughters was born, while Carrie was perfectly health Olivia was born with pulmonary stenosis.
With the help of the Children’s heart surgery fund and the doctors and staff at the LGI hospital Olivia received a balloon angioplasty operation in May 2007 which was a success but had side effects and caused her to have a stroke. Without the CHSF this already traumatic experience would have been so much more stressful
My wife and Carrie (Olivia’s twin) were provided a place to stay at the hospital, this enabled her to rest and be at my daughters side, which still looking after Carrie. If there was an emergency she was minutes away, not miles. My wife and Carrie my other twin daughter stayed at the LGI for several weeks while Olivia was in intensive care.
CHSF did a fantastic job helping look after my daughters and wife during this difficult time and who today does this for 1000s of children with Health problems.
16 years later I have a beautiful strong woman who is lucky to be alive. But CHSF have many many other families to support.
Part of the challenge I’ve stopped drinking alcohol until the event. I’ve done over 100days so far and with all the training I’ve lost over 2stone in weight. Please support by donating, sharing to help keep me motivated and support a wonderful cause
