Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page raising money for Macmillans Cancer Care. All contributions will be gratefully received!
It's been a while since I took on a cycling challenge and I suspect the years may have taken their toll on my fitness, so I expect this one to be really tough. With that in mind, I was aiming to start my training by mid Jan but as I have missed that one, early Feb is the new plan. I will be updating this page with news of my progress :)
The plan is simple; to set off from Blackheath at 7am on the 2nd July and to arrive under the Eiffel Tower four days later.
Day 1 (90+ miles) Blackheath to Dover to catch the 4pm ferry,so rolling in an hour late is a non-starter.
Day 2 (80 miles) Calais to Arras, over what is described as "undulating" French countryside (euphemism for hilly) - so the legs will definitely be feeling it, after the the previous day's efforts.
Day 3 (80 miles) Arras to Compiegne. Some more "undulations" :)
Day 4 (56 miles) Compiegne to Paris - down the Champs Elysees, round Arc de Triumph and up to the Eiffel Tower - simple!
My fund raising target is £1000 and all the money raised from this event will go directly to the people affected by cancer. For example, £191 pays for a Macmillan Nurse for a day.
