Story
MDS UK is the only charity in the UK providing vital support, information, advice and conducting research solely into Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS)- a rare blood cancer where the bone marrow fails to produce healthy blood cells. We are a small charity that needs YOUR support!
I was diagnosed with MDS in 2000. I had some scary times with many bouts of sepsis. I ended up in ICU at one point with septic shock. MDS UK has been with me throughout my journey and I am very grateful. I had my transplant in 2016. Sadly due to complications I’m still in recovery.
Covid has been really challenging for everyone. For me the advice came from my consultant to start shielding way back in February. That advice still applies. This means I haven’t been able to hug my adorable grandchildren for nearly 8 months. That’s one of the hidden disadvantages of not having a good enough immune system.
Any donation you can give helps this small but mighty charity continue to support people like me. As I’m not fit enough to do anything physical, I have decided to be a human jukebox and sing 20 songs/hymns for the 20 days of the challenge starting on 20 September. If you have a song you want me to have a go at let me know. I will try and do the most popular requests.
Thanks for your support.
