Story
Hello! or
Oli Otya! as they say in Uganda!
I'm off to Uganda in August for two years to help set up a print and design
unit with the education department in the capital, Kampala and aid with the
mass production of school books! YAY! EDUCATION!
As you may know I have visited Uganda before and have witnessed first-hand the
lack of opportunities many people have to education, quality health care and
food. It has always been a dream of mine to help individuals that don't have
the same access to basic education that we do. Now that dream is coming true.
On the 22nd of August I will be leaving to live and work in Uganda. i
will be helping to set up a print and design unit and training people to design
and project manage the mass production of books and to continuously build on
our knowledge so that a sustainable difference can be made.
It costs VSO approximately £15 000 to support each volunteer,
and the organisation asks that volunteers fundraise a small amount in
return. The money you give does not go to myself or my project directly,
but to general VSO funds, to ensure that they can carry on sending volunteers
to communities around the world that need our help the most.

With the help of peoples donations VSO
in 2012 were able too:

- Support 20,000 disabled children to attend school and gain the confidence to participate in society
- Train over 12,000 health profession whose skills will save lives generations to come
- Send 1,845 international VSO volunteers to the world’s poorest countries
- Allow 200,000 children to complete their primary education
- Train 148,000 educators to work in the world’s poorest schools
- Run workshops and training programmes to support 28,000 business people to earn their own wage.
So please dig deep and help support this amazing charity in any way that you can so they continue to send Volunteers like myself into the developing world :)
