Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the 13.1mile Great North Run on 18th September 2011 and the 10 mile Great South Run on 30th October 2011 to raise money and increase awareness of the British Heart Foundation in loving memory of my Nanna who sadly passed away on 24th June 2011 and also my Grandma in the 10th Anniversary year since she also passed away. Both are always in my thoughts and the memories I hold will get me over the finish line hopefully in under 2 and a half hours.
As most of you will know, I have been training for many months for these runs and whilst I have completed a number of 10k's in the process the Great North Run will be my first ever half marathon. I will be running alongside my little sister Lynsey who will be running her 5th Great North Run - fantastic!
The British Heart Foundation is the nations heart charity. Their vision is a world where people don’t die prematurely from heart disease. They hope to achieve this through pioneering research, vital prevention activity and ensuring quality care and support for everyone living with heart disease.
This is a particularly special year for the British Heart Foundation as it is celebrating its 50th Birthday. The ‘Mending broken hearts appeal’ is looking to raise £50 million to fund groundbreaking research that could begin to literally 'mend broken hearts' in as little as ten years time. At the moment, there is no cure for a broken heart. Once your heart muscle is damaged by a heart attack, it can never fully recover. But money raised by this appeal will give hope.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. Please make sure you tick the Gift Aid box if you are a UK taxpayer so the British Heart Foundation can reclaim the tax on your donation.
Any donation no matter how small is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.
