Story
February 2022 - Postponed due to health & safety reasons - Because of my own health issues (eye roll) & being told not to run until I have an echocardiogram, I cannot train, which means I cannot take part in the Manchester marathon. I am absolutely devastated, this is the second time I have trained for this damn race, getting up to both 20 & 15 miles. But I will not be beaten & hopefully I will be able to take part in another marathon, or some challenge this year! Unfortunately, the page cannot be altered so will still state 'Manchester marathon' (just to rub it in) but I have kept it open beyond this date. Here's to a new beginnings & better things ahead 💜
Many of you know Grace has been poorly for a few years, but in particular these last 11 months she’s rapidly deteriorated, using a wheelchair & cannot go to college due to ill health. She’s been diagnosed with PoTs. Which sounds simple but it isn’t, & likened to someone with heart failure/COPD. It’s not curable & has multiple syndromes/comorbidties. No one knows why, or how it happens & patients/carers/parents rifle relentlessly through information, trying to get help, begging for help, which is practically non existent. The PoTs UK website is a lifeline for those effected. The information they have provided has been so helpful to us as a family. So, I wanted to both raise money & awareness by running another marathon. Simple you might say, but it’s going to be hard, as I don’t seem to be able to stay upright, both fracturing a rib & my nose within a year of each other, I’m having trouble running a bath never mind 26.2 miles! I’m also juggling work, numerous hospital appointments, some of which are in London & caring for Grace, who cannot be left alone due to collapses including some seizures. Grace is one of the strongest people I know, suffering everyday, taking multiple medications, but she never moans, although I make up for the both of us! Please spare a few quid for this wonderful charity.
